How to Cook a Jaindl Turkey

Learn how to perfectly roast your Jaindl turkey with tips on thawing, oven checks, and precise cooking times for a juicy, lean meal.

Jaindl turkeys are celebrated for their lean quality, boasting 55% less fat and 25% fewer calories compared to other raw turkeys, as confirmed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This “Lite” designation reflects our commitment to genetic advancements, not dietary changes. To ensure your Jaindl turkey is perfectly roasted, follow these detailed instructions:

How to Cook a Jaindl Turkey

Pre-Roasting Checks

  1. Thawing: If your turkey is frozen, thaw it fully before cooking. Keep the turkey in its airtight bag and place it in the refrigerator for 4 to 7 days, depending on its size.
  2. Oven Temperature: Many ovens can be off by up to 100°F. Use an oven thermometer to verify the temperature. Set your oven to 325°F and, once preheating is complete, check the thermometer. If the temperature differs from 325°F, consider recalibrating your oven.
  3. Oven Calibration: This is important for both gas and electric ovens, including new or self-cleaning models.

Cooking Time

  1. Cooking Time: Due to the reduced fat content, the Jaindl Grand Champion Brand turkey cooks faster than other turkeys. Expect it to take approximately 13 to 15 minutes per pound, compared to 20 minutes per pound for most turkeys.
  2. Avoid Over-Roasting: Over-roasting can lead to a dry meal. To prevent this, monitor the cooking time closely.
  3. Cooking Device: We include a reliable cooking device with each turkey. If the device does not activate within 30 minutes of the scheduled roasting time, check the turkey for doneness.
  4. Follow Instructions: Our Quality Control Staff has meticulously refined the roasting instructions provided on the back of the turkey bag. We recommend following these instructions as Jaindl turkeys typically roast faster than average turkeys.

By adhering to these guidelines, you’ll ensure a succulent and perfectly cooked Jaindl turkey, making your meal both healthy and delicious.
