Ingredients
- 5 frozen turkey burger patties
- 3/4 cup Buffalo sauce
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon cold water
- 5 hamburger buns, toasted
- 5 leaves romaine or iceberg lettuce
- 10 slices tomato
- 1/3 cup blue cheese dressing or crumbles
Optional:
- 1 ripe avocado, sliced
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter (for bun toasting)
Instructions
- Cook the patties: Grill, pan-sear, or bake the frozen turkey patties according to package directions, about 5–6 minutes per side. Ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Make thickened Buffalo sauce: In a small bowl, mix 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp cold water until smooth. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt 2 tbsp butter. Stir in 3/4 cup Buffalo sauce and the slurry. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat.
- Glaze the burgers: In the last minute of cooking, brush or spoon the thickened sauce over the patties. Flip once to coat both sides.
- Toast the buns (optional): Butter the buns and toast in a skillet or under the broiler until golden.
- Assemble the burgers: Bottom bun → lettuce → tomato → glazed turkey burger. Top with blue cheese dressing or crumbles. Add optional avocado slices and/or onion. Finish with the top bun and serve
Notes
- Thickened sauce helps flavor stick and won’t slide off.
- Avocado adds richness that balances the heat beautifully.
- Thin-sliced onion gives a nice bite—try pickled onions for extra zip.
