Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
- 6 ounces medium cheddar cheese, shredded (or additional sliced cheese)
- 24 dinner rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian or similar)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus more for greasing)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom of a rimmed baking sheet with melted butter.
- Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until softened. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until just cooked through. Tilt the skillet to drain excess fat, then stir in mayonnaise.
- Assemble the Sliders: Slice dinner rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves on the prepared baking sheet. Layer sliced cheddar cheese over the rolls, spreading evenly. Add the ground beef mixture on top, smoothing with the back of a spatula to ensure even coverage. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
- Top and Bake: Place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese, cut-side down. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove sliders from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
- Lean Beef: Use lean ground beef to avoid overly greasy sliders.
- Crisp Tops: Sprinkle sesame seeds right after brushing butter to ensure they stick well.
- Meal Prep: These sliders reheat perfectly in the microwave for 15–20 seconds per slider.
- Customizations: Add pickles, ketchup, or mustard to make them more personalized.
