Ingredients
1 pound ground elk meat
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 burger buns
1 avocado, sliced
1 tomato, sliced
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
Lettuce leaves
Optional: cheese slices of your choice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground elk meat, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into four equal patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
- Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in the oven.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun and topping with avocado slices, tomato slices, red onion, and lettuce leaves.
Notes
Serve these burgers with sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
Elk meat is leaner than beef, so be careful not to overcook the patties to maintain juiciness.
