Ingredients
4 white fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia)
Golden Dipt Fish Fry Mix
Water or milk (for moistening)
2 beaten eggs (optional, for thicker coating)
3 tablespoons milk (optional, for thicker coating)
Vegetable oil for frying (or sunflower, safflower, or grapeseed oil)
Lemon wedges for serving
Tartar sauce for serving
Instructions
1. Prepare the Fish:
- Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels.
2. Coat the Fish:
- Moisten the fish fillets with water or milk.
- For a thicker coating, dip each fillet in a mixture of 2 beaten eggs and 3 tablespoons of milk.
- Coat several pieces of fish at a time with the Golden Dipt Fish Fry Mix, ensuring an even layer.
- Allow the coated fish to stand for 5 minutes.
3. Heat the Oil:
- In a large, nonstick pan or deep fryer, heat oil over medium heat until it shimmers but doesn’t smoke. Test the oil’s readiness by dropping a small amount of batter or breadcrumbs into the pan—if it sizzles and browns right away, it’s ready.
4. Fry the Fish:
- Carefully add the fish to the pan in batches, making sure not to crowd it.
- Fry for 3–5 minutes per side, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily, turning once with two small spatulas.
- Discard any remaining fry mix.
5. Drain the Fish:
- Remove the fish from the pan and place it on a paper towel-lined sheet pan to drain excess oil.
6. Serve:
- Serve the crispy fried fish with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the Golden Dipt Fish Fry Mix.
- Serve with classic sides like coleslaw, fries, or hush puppies for a complete fish fry experience.
