Ingredients

Scale

1 pound ground lamb

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh mint leaves

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg, beaten

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Extra mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, breadcrumbs, mint, parsley, Parmesan, onion, garlic, egg, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

2. Form the Meatballs: Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

3. Cook the Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook the meatballs, turning occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

4. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth.

5. Serve: Arrange the meatballs on a serving platter. Drizzle the yogurt sauce over the meatballs and garnish with extra mint leaves. Serve warm.

Notes

Pairing Suggestions: Serve these meatballs with a side of couscous or a fresh salad for a complete meal. They also pair well with pita bread and hummus.

To Ensure Success: Make sure to finely chop the herbs and onions to ensure an even texture in the meatballs. If the mixture seems too wet, you can add a little more breadcrumbs to help bind the meatballs.

Variations: You can substitute ground beef or turkey for the lamb if desired. Adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat mixture can give the meatballs a nice kick of heat.
